Add a specification reference to your AI Discovery Files and unlock a dedicated profile page, score display, file inventory, and embeddable badge.

What is Attribution?

The AI Discovery Files Directory has two listing tiers: basic and full. The tier your site receives depends on whether your AI Discovery Files reference the AI Visibility specification.

  • Basic listing — a card in the directory grid. Requires at least llms.txt to be present on your site.
  • Full listing — a dedicated profile page with a dofollow backlink to your website, your AI Visibility score, complete file inventory, category listing, description, and an embeddable verification badge.

To upgrade from basic to full, your AI Discovery Files need to reference the AI Visibility specification at ai-visibility.org.uk. This is what the directory calls attribution.

How to Add Attribution

Copy-paste examples for each file type

Add a specification or source reference pointing to ai-visibility.org.uk in at least two of your AI Discovery Files. The exact syntax varies by file type.

Add a Specification line anywhere in the file:

General rule: Any AI Discovery File that contains ai-visibility.org.uk in a specification, source, or reference context counts as attributed.

No SEO impact: AI Discovery Files are standalone machine-readable files (like robots.txt or sitemap.xml). They are not part of your HTML pages, do not add outbound links to your site, and have absolutely no effect on your search engine rankings or SEO.

At Least 2 Files

A minimum of two AI Discovery Files must contain the ai-visibility.org.uk attribution reference.

Include a Primary File

One of the attributed files must be either llms.txt or ai.txt. These are the two primary AI Discovery Files that AI systems check first.

Automatic Detection

There is no manual approval process. The system checks your files automatically when you submit or re-check your site. If the requirements are met, your listing upgrades instantly.
